Series Summary:
Black Gold is a neo-noir crime drama set in the corrupt and combustible world of 1930s Los Angeles. At the center is the Preston family—led by patriarch Lawrence Preston—who clawed their way to power through oil, backroom deals, and blood. As they seek to expand their empire into the heart of the city, they face off against rival tycoon Franklin Maxwell, a populist with his own ruthless methods. Internal fractures threaten the Prestons as Lawrence’s children—his calculating heir Henry, illegitimate yet loyal daughter Lilian, and defiant youngest son William—struggle with the weight of legacy and moral compromise. As city council races heat up, oil fields explode, and bodies surface, the Prestons discover the true cost of power in a city built on lies, land, and black gold.
